“The one who loves money will never be satisfied with money, he who loves wealth will never be satisfied with his income. This also is futile. When someone’s prosperity increases, those who consume it also increase; so what does its owner gain, except that he gets to see it with his eyes?" Eccle. 5:10-11.

Welcome to a new month, I like to speak with you on the subject of seeking His presence. Roger Babson, an American historian, was visiting the president of Argentina about one hundred years ago when the president said to him: “You are a student of history, Will you please tell me why it is that South America, with her unlimited resources, and having been settled earlier than North America, has nevertheless made much slower progress in civilization and material prosperity?” Mr. Babson threw the question back upon the president by saying, “Mr. President, you evidently have studied this question yourself, and I would be interested to know your answer to it.”

The President replied that he thought the explanation lay in the fact that South America was settled by Spaniards who came seeking gold while North America was settled by the Pilgrim Fathers who came seeking God. Irrespective of how you see this statement, for me it's quite deep. "Do not wear yourself out to become rich; be wise enough to restrain yourself." Prov. 23:4. Solomon mocks lazy people and warns them to expect poverty and family shame. But there is a contrary error, working too much to get rich. Workaholics make three errors: they overwork themselves, their goals for wealth are warped, and they ignore the reality that riches can disappear with a snap of God’s fingers. You must make it a point of duty to seek God more than gold.

Rest is one of God’s blessings. “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. Psa.127:2. Sleep is wonderful, a gift of God. Tired bodies revive, dreams integrate the day’s events into our minds, and sleep puts us in the hands of God, Who never sleeps. There are two extremes you must avoid, avoid being lazy and laid back doing little or nothing. On the other hand avoid being self conceited labouring like a slave pursing the money you may never find or be able to keep. Pursue a balance life, become a genuine pursuer of his presence. Do have for yourself a blessed month, Selah!

FURTHER READING:

"There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a sore travail." Eccle. 4:8.

"A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold." Prov. 22:1.

DECLARATION:

Dear Abba Father, thank You for another day and another month. I declare that my decisions today will change the trajectory of my life and my future. I ask that I find grace and favour with you and men. I ask that Your precious ointment be poured on me enough for me to come into alignment with Your plans for me. Wherever I place my feet, I walk in Your authority and expand my territory for Your name’s sake. Increase my productivity and efficiency and give me the anointing like Solomon to wisely manage my resources today. In Jesus's name, amen.
