“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—keep thinking about these things.” Phil. 4:8.
Openness refers to the extent to which someone is willing to embrace new experiences, ideas, and perspectives. In a nutshell it's the willingness to grow and distaste for ruts and being motionless. Openness requires eagerly standing on top-toe for a better view of what tomorrow brings. A man once bought a new radio, he brought it home, placed it on the refrigerator, plugged it in, turned it to his favourite radio station. Then he pulled all the knobs off the radio! Ensuring you can't change the channel anymore. He had already tuned in all he ever wanted or expected to hear. Some lives are exactly like that "rutted" bleak and rather depressing because such believers have yielded to the tyranny of the inevitable, "what has been will still be." Stay open to newness. Stay open to change.
Being open means you are highly imaginative and creative. For believers, imagination and creativity are powerful gifts from God, tools that can be used to connect with Him, understand His word, and express faith. They are not just artistic abilities but encompass the ability to envision possibilities, empathize with others, and develop a deeper understanding of spiritual truths. Your Imagination can help you as a believer to visualize biblical stories, characters, and parables, making them more relatable and impactful in your life. Cultivating spiritual imagination allows believers to connect with God on a deeper level, explore spiritual concepts, and receive new insights.
A lot of believers don't understand the concept of spiritual and sanctified imagination. Spiritual imagination is the capacity to envision and connect with spiritual realities and dealings in God through mental imagery, symbolism, and creative thought, often guided by faith or spiritual principles. It serves as a bridge between the material and spiritual realms, enabling deeper understanding, inspiration, and connection with the divine. The Bible discusses spiritual imagination as a powerful tool that can be used for both good and bad. It can be a source of both blessings and curses, depending on how it is used. The Bible encourages believers to use their imagination to engage with God's word and to envision positive outcomes aligned with God's will, while also warning against the dangers of vain imaginations that can lead to sin and spiritual deception.
