Stop Chasing Shadows.

"These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ." Col. 2:17.
You may recollect the old classic fable that tells of a dog walking across a bridge carrying a real, juicy bone in its mouth. As it looked down into the clear stream below, it saw its own reflection holding a "bigger" bone. Greedily, the dog opened its mouth to snap at the reflection's bone, dropping its own real bone into the deep water and left with nothing—discovering the reflection was only an empty shadow. It couldn't recover the lost real bone, nor could it feed on the shadow in the water because, now, it was a shadow without bone. Many believers drop what is genuine (relationship with God, eternal grace, inner peace) to snap at the shifting, empty shadows of wealth, status, or temporary pleasure that vanish the moment you try to grab them.
Shadows are merely empty images created by a lack of light; they have no weight, form, or reality of their own. When you pursue worldly status, wealth, or validation, you are chasing something that cannot offer genuine fulfillment. True substance and reality are only found in a life rooted in Christ.
Everything in this earthly existence is rapidly passing away, much like a shadow that vanishes when the sun goes down. Dedicating your life to accumulating temporary possessions or seeking fleeting trends is a waste of your eternal purpose. True wisdom lies in investing in what lasts forever. Chasing a shadow is an exhausting, endless cycle because you can never actually catch it or hold it in your hands.
Your time on this earth is incredibly short, often described in the Bible as nothing more than a breath or a fleeing shadow. Because your days are limited, you cannot afford to waste your precious time and energy on things that do not matter in eternity. Every moment should be used to fulfill your divine purpose. When your eyes are fixed on the shifting shadows of this world, you lose sight of the steady, unchangeable light of God. Chasing worldly illusions distracts you from your heavenly assignment and misaligns your priorities. You must guard your heart against being swayed by things that hold no eternal weight. Shadows change size, shift direction, and disappear depending on the external environment, making them completely unreliable. Relying on your own strength, human relationships, or financial markets for ultimate security will always fail you. Selah!

DECLARATION:
Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, grant me the courage to stop grasping at what is out of reach or built on shifting sand. Ground me firmly in Your reality, in the truth of who You are, and in the present life You have entrusted to me. When anxiety or distraction tempts me to chase after vanities, pull my heart back to Your peace. Give me wisdom to accept what is, strength to walk in Your light, and a quiet spirit that rests in Your grace rather than the exhausting pursuit of empty shadows in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
