“Adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James. 4:4.
Many years ago a young man went to China as a missionary with an income of $2,500 annually. Seeing how meagre his yearly income was, a company decided that they wanted this young man to work for them and offered him a position with a $5,000 salary. He declined the offer, and it was raised to $7,000 and then to $10,000, but he still declined. The company asked him if the salary was his sticking point and he answered, “Oh, the salary is big enough, but the job isn’t big enough to persuade me.” He couldn't give his purpose and high calling to pursue the mundane.
We live in very dark days, the darkness of compromise seems to pervade the whole atmosphere. We all face moments of spiritual compromise when tempted to make decisions that go against our beliefs and values. It can be hard to stay true to our inner selves in the midst of difficult choices and uncertainty. Compromising our morals and values as children of God can have devastating consequences. Negative influences can weaken our spiritual foundations, leading to actions inconsistent with our beliefs. Additionally, compromise can lead to decisions with long-term consequences for our relationships, self-image, and spiritual wellbeing.
To combat the spirit of compromise, you must focus on strengthening your relationship with God through regular Bible study, prayer, and fellowship, while also guarding your heart and mind from negative influences. Actively resist temptation, seek accountability with other believers, and strive for a lifestyle that reflects your faith. Never allow the devil make you feel that everyone lives in compromise, so you should continue, that is the lie of the devil. You must strive prayerfully to develop character and the courage to say no to compromise and yes to God and his perfect work on your life. Selah!
