“The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it.” Lev. 6:12.

There is one thing about my spiritual journey with God that I’m forever grateful for. It is that fact that I met the Lord in the days of my youth. I can't exchange that for anything else, not even silver or gold. The privilege of being set on fire by God even before I step into the university. I can't compromise for anything the privilege of pouring out my youthfulness for usefulness in the Lord's service. One thing that is very paramount to me today it's the fact that it's expensive to be on fire. Every firebrand believer you see, he or she is a product of years of consistent and persistent investment of grace. A man of God once said, set yourself on fire, a crowd will gather to watch you burn. I don't know why being on fire seems not to be in vogue in this generation, but God is asking for men on fire for Him.

There seems to be a mindset among many believers that being on fire for God will only last for a short season after a person’s conversion. After that they will “settle down” and not be so intense in their relationship with God or their zeal to see the kingdom of God advance. But let me tell you that this is a lie. You don’t have to lose your fire and passion for God. In fact, it is imperative that we not lose our fire. We must stop normalizing lukewarmness. Being lukewarm should never be an option for believers as it is the state of the Laodicean church that Jesus said He would spew out of His mouth! Have you lost your fire? You can regain it, you can recover lost passion and zeal for the things of God. You don't burn for God by accident, you must be deliberate and willing to submit yourself to be an altar where fire is burning loud and bright for Jesus in your generation.

To stay on fire, you must prioritize personal devotion. There is no short cut or substitute for personal devotion to God in the secret place. Making it a priority to daily spend quality time alone with the Lord in prayer, Bible reading, worship will keep on aflame. You must walk with those who are on fire. If your friends are fire extinguishers, then you can be so sure that your fire will not be sustained. We’re not meant to walk the Christian life alone, company with firebrand for your own safety. Keep out worldly influences. The Bible says that “Bad company corrupts good character” Be careful who you are allowing to influence your life. Also be careful about how Worldly entertainment  can desensitize you to sin, quench your fire, and sap your spiritual hunger. May you remain on fire for God.
