"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." 1 Cor. 15:58.
During the 1920s and 1930s, Joseph Stalin's regime ordered widespread purge of believers and confiscations of Bibles across the Soviet Union. In Stavropol, Russia, these purges were aggressively enforced, with thousands of Bibles taken and believers sent to the Gulag prison camps. Many of these confiscated Bibles were never destroyed but sat stored away in a warehouse just outside the city for decades. In 1994, a missionary group visiting the region was granted permission by local officials to remove the Bibles from the warehouse and redistribute them to the people of Stavropol. In a remarkable historical discovery, one of the hired helpers aiding in the removal opened a Bible to find his own grandmother's personal signature. He was a skeptical, hostile, university student who didn't believe in God, who came only for the day’s wages. As they loaded the Bibles one man noticed that the student had disappeared.
Finally they found him in a corner of the warehouse weeping. He had slipped away, hoping to quietly take a Bible for himself. What he found pierced him deeply. The inside page of the Bible he picked up had the handwritten signature of his own grandmother. It was her personal Bible. Out of the thousands of Bibles still left in that warehouse, he stole the one that belonged to his grandmother - a woman persecuted for her faith all her life. No wonder he wept. God was real. His grandmother had prayed for him and her city. His discovery of the Bible was only a glimpse into the spiritual part of his person. And now this young student is in the process of transformation by the Bible that his grandmother found so vital. Never allow Christianity to become a dead religion in your hands. Your faith in God should be alive and active. God is making Himself known to people around the world. You must never become left behind because you practiced the faith that is lifeless and worthless.bIts time to examine yourself and be persuaded in your walk with God.
Maintaining a burning passion for God requires intentional spiritual habits. It must start with daily communion with God, it fuels your spiritual fire. Reading scripture aligns your mind with His will, while prayer invites the Holy Spirit to guide your daily steps. Surrounding yourself with other believers provides essential encouragement, sharpens your faith, and keeps you accountable. Spiritual growth rarely happens in isolation. That's why radical and committed church attendance is not an option, it's a lifeline. Faith without action loses its fervour. Putting God's Word into practice by serving others and obeying His commands activates your faith and keeps your heart aligned with His purposes. It's time to revisit your spiritual foundations and be intentional about what you have believed. Many practice their faith and attend Church but are not persuaded, with little persecution the fall by the way side. May you rediscover the very essence of your faith in Christ. Selah!
