“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phil. 4:13.

A little boy was overheard talking to himself as he moved around the backyard, wearing his baseball cap, a ball and bat: “I’m the greatest hitter in the world,” he announced. Then he tossed the ball into the air, swung at it, and missed. “Strike one!” he yelled. Undaunted, he picked up the ball again, “I’m the greatest hitter in the world!” He tossed the ball into the air. When it came down he swung and missed. “Strike two!” he cried. The boy then paused for a moment to examine the bat and ball carefully. He spit on his hands and rubbed them together. He straightened his cap and said once more, “I’m the greatest hitter in the world!” Again he tossed the ball up into the air and swung at it. He missed. “Strike three! Wow” seeing that he has missed his desired decision of being a hitter, three times, he changed. You know in baseball the pitcher is the person that throws the ball and ensures you can't access it to hit. The little boy exclaimed. “Well, what do you know? I’m the greatest pitcher in the world.”

You remember the idiom that says: “You must learn not to take no for an answer" in other words, it means learn to be persistent and not give up easily when you  are pursuing a goal, you must keep your heart, mind and eyes off distractions.  The key is to see "no" as a temporary obstacle, not a final rejection, by changing your approach, finding alternatives, or understanding the "why" behind the "no,". Tenacity is not picked out there in the street, tenacity must be cultivated. You must make up your mind to go all out with all within your strength to achieve results irrespective of the opposition.

The little boy in our story started out wanting to be the hitter, finding out he did terribly as a hitter after three misses, he figured out he may just be better off as a pitcher. The person in baseball who is trained to make you miss the ball. The motivation once more is, never allow life to throw you under the bus. Never allow life to silence you, never return home any day accepting the status quo. On a daily basis, maintain a positive and resilient mindset, get curious and ask questions to understand the underlying concerns, use the information gathered to refine your dreams and vision. Seek actionable solutions that mitigate risks or align better with your priorities and expectations. As a believer, you are a goal getter, never allow yourself to be reduced to failure because of one or two misses, get up and restrategise for victory. Selah!

DECLARATION:

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, grant me the focus of a goal-getter; help me see my destination and not be distracted by challenges or setbacks. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit to give me the strength, courage, and tenacity to pursue these goals relentlessly, even when it seems impossible. When I stumble or face failure, I ask for Your grace to rise again, learn, and try anew, knowing You are the God who rewards persistence in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
