“For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” Psa. 75:6-7.

My wife told me of an incident that happened some time ago in her office. You know workplaces often talk about teamwork and fairness, but those ideas can fade fast once real decisions are made behind closed doors. In the spirit of teamwork, she had shared some thoughts and ideas with a colleague, only to notice during the general review, it was her exact ideas he had shared with the boss not even acknowledging her, even though that was exactly when she too intended to share. He perhaps did that, to outwit her to being commended and promoted. Promotions are supposed to reflect dedication, yet many people discover that effort doesn’t always win, because some would rather go about it the wrong way.

Everyone in every profession desires to be elevated to a higher position. Promotion gives joy not only because of its prospect of material benefits but also for the fact that it serves as an acknowledgement of one’s merits and ability. A student in a school has an ambition to be promoted from one class to another in ascending the academic ladder. He knows that this will depend on his success in an examination. And so, in order to realize his ambition, he must have to work hard. Unfortunately owing to the high incidence of deviations and perversions in almost every sphere of human activity in our time, many people do receive promotions that they do not deserve while those who are genuinely qualified are ignored. However, true promotion, according to the Scriptures, comes from God.

To get God to promote or elevate you in life and destiny, you must learn how to follow God's path to promotion. This path involves humility, fidelity and responsibility even in small things. You must walk the path of obedience, trusting in God's timing for you, rather than self-promotion or worldly pervaded manipulated lifting. Divine elevation comes from Him alone, lifting the prepared and humble heart to greater responsibilities and fruitfulness. Key steps include seeking His will, serving diligently with integrity, allowing Him to remove pride, and waiting patiently for His appointed time, recognizing that He raises up and brings down as He sees fit. Selah!
