“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matt. 6:14-15.

I read a very insightful story about the great inventor Thomas A. Edison. He was working on a crazy project called a "light bulb" and it took a whole team of men 24 straight hours to put just one together. After 24, laborious hours, they achieved such a great feat. The story goes that when Edison was finished with one light bulb, he gave it to a young boy, one of his helpers, who nervously carried it up the stairs. Step by step he cautiously watched his hands, obviously frightened of dropping such a priceless piece of work. You've probably guessed what happened by now; the poor young fellow dropped the bulb at the top of the stairs and got it destroyed. It took the entire team of men twenty-four more hours again to make another bulb. Finally, tired and ready for a break, Edison was ready to have his bulb carried up the stairs. Guess what? He gave it to the same young boy who dropped the first one. I know what you are thinking, hold your thoughts. This time around the young boy successfully carried it up the stairs. That's true forgiveness.

In the Bible, true forgiveness is defined as the conscious, voluntary decision to release a person from the debt of their sin or offense, just as God in Christ has forgiven us. It is not merely an emotion, but a choice to relinquish resentment and the right to vengeance. It's not a pretentious vocal release, but a deep rooted desire to truly let go and allow God to heal the hurt. Each time there's true forgiveness, there's a second chance. A second chance is the application of mercy, a restoration of relationship or opportunity, predicated on grace and often accompanied by repentance. God doesn't give second chances to unrepentant people, but He doesn't hold back grace and second chances from repentant people either. You know , according to our story, If I were Thomas Edison, I wouldn't give another chance to the young man. But, he must have seen his remorse and desire for another chance, and surely he was given.

God doesn't waste opportunity, opening your life to a Divine second chance involves aligning with spiritual principles that prioritize repentance, humility, and trust in God’s mercy, which is described as being new every morning. God is viewed not just as a God of second chances, but of third, fourth, and infinite chances for a sincere heart. To get another chance with God, you must humble yourself. God is opposed to the proud, but extends grace to the humble. If you can humble yourself, you will get another chance with God. You must stop running trying to hide your sins, as true restoration begins when you surrender your mess to God. He can make a message from your mess, if you don't hide and try to justify it. You must accept your need for God: Often, failures occur to bring us to the end of ourselves, forcing us to rely on His power rather than our own. Selah!

DECLARATION:

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Merciful Father, You are the God of another chance, the One who lifts me when I fall, who calls me back when I stray, and who writes mercy across every page of my life. I surrender my past mistakes, Lord, and step into the new mercy You offer today. Guide me forward, and let Your grace define my future, for in You there is always a new beginning. I receive a new beginning and operate a new level of grace and your mercy in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
