“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” Matt. 16:19.

A young man was getting ready to leave for work when he realised he couldn't find his car keys. He called his Pastor and reported this loss. They prayed together, yet he searched around and couldn't find it. He decided to call for a key specialist who was able to use his technical skills to unlock the door. However, as soon as the door opened, since he didn't use the main key, an alarm went off, sounding so loud. Not knowing what to do he decided to remove the battery head. Looking for a wrench to do that just by the toolbox in the garage he found the key sitting idle by the chair he had sat earlier on to rest. He was happy, but also so sad at the stress and the expense the lost but found key has cost him.

Keys are so important in our daily lives. They open doors, and beyond those doors are things that provide us with comfort or happiness and security. Without our house keys, for instance, we wouldn’t be able to get into our homes and see our families. Without our car keys, we could not operate our automobiles, and wouldn’t get anywhere. Without the keys to our safe, we wouldn’t be able to get the important things we’ve kept hidden and locked away.  They symbolize the power to open and close. The power to gain access or restrict access. Having the right keys you are permitted to access the right place, to do the right thing. Keys take many forms in our lives today, some give us access to resources or create pathways to limitless possibilities ahead. Jesus gave the keys of the kingdom to the church, although he didn’t mean something literal to put on a chain or ring. It was access to the power that unlocks heaven and earth.

Without the right key your access to power, resources and advancement can be hindered. You must also understand that as important as keys are, literal and symbolic keys are inanimate. The young man in our story looked all around frantically for the key that is seated just by his chair in the garage for his key, he couldn't call on the key, he couldn't shout down the key, nor could he trace it. We must handle with care every key God has given us else we lose them. Doors don't respond to force or familiarity, they respond to keys, there are human keys, principles as keys and knowledge as keys. Whichever key God has given you handle it well, it is the access you have to your world of limitless possibilities, don't be careless in managing or handling your keys it has consequences. Selah!

DECLARATION:

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, I thank you for your unending love and for all the blessings you have already bestowed upon me. I acknowledge that without your guidance, I am lost. I seek your wisdom and favour as I progress in this new month. I pray for the keys to unlock doors, for the ability to discern your will, and for the strength to walk through it. I trust that you will open the doors that are meant for me and close those that are not. Thank you for your faithfulness. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen."
