Mon. April 15th. 2024.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Luke. 5:16.

D.L. Moody told a story from his book daily gems. A blind man in a great city was found sitting at a street corner with a lantern beside him. Someone went up to him and asked him why he had the lantern, since he was blind and the light of it was the same to him as the darkness. The blind man simply replied, “So that no one may stumble over me.’” the light was obviously not for him but for others. We who know Christians, of course, are not blind. But like that man, we too must be providing light so that those who are lost can find their way to heaven. Without the light of Christ shining through us, His followers, they will stumble in their search for peace and satisfaction.

The darkness of our world has been incredibly apparent over the past years. If the world ever needed light, it’s now, but what does it mean to ‘let your light shine?’ As Christians, we have the light of the Holy Spirit living inside of us. His light can help us shine in our hurting world. Do you struggle with wanting to be a light in this dark world but feel as though your little light won’t be enough? So why bother? Stop yourself, and do not underestimate how your light can change the darkness. Each of us can make a difference.

Be bold enough to shine your light no matter how small or insignificant you may feel. Remember, it takes only a little light to change the outlook of the room. Don’t forget as little as your smile could brighten another one’s life. Maybe you are not in the dark right now, but people around you are hurting and could use a little light to shine into their world. Will you be that person? To shine yourself up and reflect God’s light by loving others, by going the extra mile to be a living witness about Jesus to a world that has been grossly permeated with darkness. May God indeed cause you to be a shinny example to a dying world. It start with looking for those who need a little light in their lives, and shine yours.
