Beware Of Deception.

“These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught." Isa. 29:13

Alexander the Great was a famous king born into a royal family in Macedonia in Greece. A brilliant military leader, and the creator of one of the largest empires in the ancient world before dying at age 32. Alexander the Great once found a young soldier deeply asleep at his post, which was a terrible crime punishable by death in his kingdom. But the king woke the terrified guard up and asked his name. The soldier whispered with great fear, "Alexander." Obviously, the young man was named after him. The king looked at him curiously and spoke back to him sternly, "You must either change your behaviour or change your name". The young soldier was quite grateful for his life that was spared, but that advice was evergreen. Bearing the name of Christ means we represent His character. Living the Christian life is not about trying to earn God's love, but acting like the family we already belong to. 

Bearing a form of godliness while denying its power is spiritually dangerous because it prevents true life change, brings God's judgment, and deceives the soul. Outward religious shows hide an unchanged and deceitful heart. When people act holy on the outside but refuse God's transforming work inside, they live a lie that separates them from true integrity. The core message of Jesus is not just about nice words or traditions, but about God’s active power to save and change a person. Pretending to be religious without letting God work turns the faith into an empty shell. An external mask of piety does nothing to clean the inside of a person. Without the real power of the Holy Spirit to break bad habits and heal deep brokenness, the soul remains trapped in hidden corruption. 

God looks at the truth of the inner spirit, not just a performance. Acting out a role of devotion while refusing to obey God from the heart invites strict correction from Him. People with fake religion are always listening or studying religious ideas, but they never actually change or grow. Their pride keeps them from accepting the real truth that saves them. When people see religious individuals acting just as selfishly and meanly as the rest of the world, they lose respect for God. A powerless faith ruins the witness of what Christ can truly do. Relying on a form of godliness means trusting in human effort, clothing, or local customs rather than grace. This creates a system of proud rules that lacks any divine strength. God does not want His children to play games with faith. The Bible gives a clear warning to step away from fake religious displays so that you do not fall into the same destruction. Selah!
