Keep The Fire Burning.

“And we should carefully consider toward stirring up one another to love and to good works, Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Heb. 10:24-25.

Did you know that, if you pull a single glowing coal out from a glowing fire, give it a couple of minutes it will quickly turn black, grow cold, and lose its fire. However, when you pile many glowing coals together and pull them out of a burning fire, together they continue to burn bright and form another fire. The fire burns bright, fierce, and hot for a long time. That is the same principle around fellowship. You cannot maintain a blazing fire for God in total isolation. When we isolate ourselves from the local church and community, our spiritual fire cools down. We need the collective heat of fellow believers to stay spiritually vibrant.

Maintaining a vibrant, fervent spiritual life requires consistent intentionality, and God designed fellowship to be a primary catalyst for keeping our faith ablaze. When believers gather, the collective warmth of their faith prevents individual hearts from growing cold. True fellowship involves a reciprocal exchange of faith that lifts the weary and strengthens the weak. When we share our testimonies, struggles, and victories, we infuse energy into the spiritual lives of those around us. Paul expressed this desire when writing to the church in Rome, stating that he longed to see them so that they might be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

A healthy spiritual life requires accountability and the willingness to be challenged by mature peers. Fellowship provides a safe space for loving correction, wisdom, and refinement, which prevents our spiritual edges from becoming dull. Engaging in honest, deep relationships allows others to challenge our blind spots, refine our character, and push us toward greater spiritual maturity. There is a unique spiritual power released when believers unite in prayer and worship. Corporate devotion invites the manifest presence of God, which ignites and refreshes our souls in ways that private devotion alone cannot. Selah!

Stir up a fresh fire in my heart today. Help me to see the vital importance of fellowship with other believers. Give me a deep hunger to gather with Your people. Connect me with brothers and sisters who will sharpen my faith, pray with me, and walk beside me in truth and love in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
