Building Bold Faith.

“because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James. 1:3-4.

The testing we go through demonstrates the genuineness of our faith. In the phrase 'the testing of your faith,'the word 'testing'is an almost untranslatable word. The Williams version explains it as showing what is "genuine in your faith." The idea refers to iron ore that has gone through the refining fire and comes out the other side clean and pure and genuine. This is the word Job used when he said, 'When he has tried me in the fire, I will come out like gold.' Actually, there may be something suspicious about a faith that has never been tested. An army going through basic training is not ready for battle. Not until soldiers have faced the battle and been under fire, do they consider themselves proven, hardened, worthy. A ship cannot prove that it's been sturdily built as long as it stays in dry dock. Its hull must get wet; it must face a storm to demonstrate genuine seaworthiness. The same is true of our faith. When we hold fast to belief in Christ in spite of life's storms and crushing criticism, that's when we demonstrate the genuineness of our faith.

As followers of Jesus, we’re not called to stay the same—we’re called to grow. The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we cannot remain on spiritual “milk” forever but must move on to deeper truths. Hebrews 6:1–3 highlights six foundational principles every believer should understand and live out. The first principle is turning away from “dead works.” These are actions that may appear moral or religious but are disconnected from God’s Spirit. Repentance is more than regret—it’s a complete turning away from sin and self-reliance, and a turning toward God’s way of life. In our world today, it’s easy to do “good things” for recognition or to try to earn God’s approval. But Scripture is clear: our righteousness comes only through Christ. True repentance leads to freedom—where we serve God with joy, not guilt.

The second foundation is faith. Faith isn’t just believing that God exists—it’s trusting Him fully. Heb. 11:6 reminds us, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Faith helps us move forward when life feels uncertain. It empowers us to pray bold prayers, obey God’s leading, and endure trials with hope. Repentance turns us away from sin; faith turns us toward God’s promises. God's promises are ours to claim, but we can't claim them if we are not ready to stand in faith and walk worthy of God's instructions in His word. We live in the days where folks want the excitement of benefits of doing God's will but shy away from the sacrifices and the pains of endurance of faith. God is calling you to this life of sacrifice, this is the only thing that stirs up your faith and increases your labour of love towards the Lord. Selah!
