“Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow springs of life.” Prov. 4:23.

A fellow who was sick and tired of life and was contemplating suicide, he decided to jump down to his death from a bridge. A police officer who was on duty was alerted of his suicide attempt. The officer slowly and methodically moved toward him, talking with him with all tact and wisdom he could muster, hoping to prevent the impending dastard act. When the officer got within inches of the man he said, “Surely nothing could be bad enough for you to take your life. Tell me about it. Talk to me.” The would-be jumper told him of all the misfortune and heartbreaks he has had to deal with. He spoke about how his wife had left him, how his business had gone bankrupt, and how his friends had deserted him. He concluded that everything in life had lost meaning. For thirty minutes he told the sad story—then they both jumped.

I know the end of this true life story looks so strange to you. Why will the law enforcement officer sent to help prevent suicide, commit suicide with the man, because he allowed the atmosphere around the man's life to influence and affect him. Everyone you see, every household, workplace, neighborhood, and even nation has a unique spiritual atmosphere or prevalent climate. I am sure you know this. Perhaps, you step into a place, if you are very sensitive, you can immediately tell the atmosphere in that place. Whether it is peace and joy, or a prevailing darkness and heaviness. If you don't take authority over a certain atmosphere, you may end up being powerless to change negative atmospheres and start thinking that’s just the way things are.

What you consistently speak and how you continually speak, builds an environment around you. Use your words as a tool for programming your reality. Instead of repeating complaints or anxieties, actively declare blessings, express gratitude, and speak positive truths over your life and the spaces you occupy. Daily prayer aligns your mind with God's purposes, acting as a direct catalyst for shifting the atmosphere. Set aside dedicated, uninterrupted times daily for prayer and supplication. Inviting the Holy Spirit into your day reconfigures your mindset so that you are no longer a host to negative influences. Meditating on the Word of God instills the truth needed to counter negativity and doubts. Protect your heart and mind by limiting exposure to toxicity, strife, and continuous negativity. Intentionally surround yourself with a strong community of like-minded believers and influences that encourage spiritual growth and faith. Selah!

DECLARATION:

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, I come to You with a heart open wide, asking You to flood my life with Your peace, Your power, and Your presence. Bring me into a robust and living relationship with You. Help me to bring the atmosphere over my life home and destiny under Divine surveillance. Silence the noise that tries to steal my focus. Quiet the fears that whisper lies into my spirit and cause me to walk in the fullness of Your Will in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
