Courage Over Fear.

"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?... So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matt. 6:27, 34.

Many people falsely believe that worrying is a productive way to protect themselves from disaster. A teenager was confronted by her mother about her constant worrying, she thought it through and said, "None of the things I worried about have happened." She then replied, "You see, worry works!".  Her illusion is that it's her worrying that has kept her worries from happening. Nothing can be further from the truth. Medical and psychological studies show that fear and worry deplete human energy and damage health, constructing nerves and tissue for anxiety rather than reality. World War II General George Patton famously declared, "Courage is fear holding on a minute longer". He understood that the greatest danger of fear is not the feeling itself, but what happens when you give in to it. If you yield to fear, you stop moving forward, and hesitation puts you on a direct path to defeat.

Fear and worry drain your energy, divide your focus, and limit your potential. By cultivating courage and choosing faith instead of anxiety, you open yourself up to God's peace, step confidently into your purpose, and experience the strength of His constant presence. The Creator of the universe goes before you and stands beside you, removing any logical reason to dread what lies ahead. Worry is a futile exercise that expends your mental and physical energy without solving a single problem or extending your life by even a fraction of a second. Choosing courage shifts your focus from the uncontrollable to the One who actually holds the future.

Fear is not a trait that comes from God, nor is it something you have to silently endure. Instead, the Holy Spirit fills you with inner strength, self-discipline, and a sound mind so you can face hardships boldly. Fear and worries come from a place of insecurity, but God has equipped you with a completely different nature. He provides a spirit of power, love, and self-control to help you stand firm. Worrying about tomorrow cannot add a single hour to your life, meaning it is a complete waste of your mental and physical energy. God sustains even the smallest parts of creation, and He values you far more. Anxiety and fear have a measurable physical and emotional toll, often weighing a person down and making them feel defeated before they even begin. Courage allows you to rise above these heavy feelings and embrace the abundant life God intends for you. Selah!
