“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1 Tim. 6:12.
Christianity is a profession according to our text, but it's a character profession. To put it bluntly, you can sleep around and still be a good brain surgeon. You can cheat on your mate and have little trouble continuing to practice law. Apparently, it is no problem to stay in politics and be a rogue. You can be a successful salesperson and be the most immoral person around. But you cannot do those things as a Christian or as a minister and continue enjoying the Lord’s blessing. You must do things right in order to have true integrity.
Our world today is seriously lacking in character. It seems many people will do whatever it takes to get what they want, even if it means cutting corners or possibly hurting others in the process. Character has been relegated totally, all that is needed is results, it doesn't really matter how such a result is achieved. We have more people in the church in our days who would rather develop their Charisma, than their Character. Your Charisma will announce you but only your Character will sustain you. Many want to shine, but few have what it takes to last. It's not so much about shining, it's so much more about enduring.
Your true Character is revealed by what you do when nobody is watching. It’s one thing to say or do all the right things in public. But God also sees what we do “behind closed doors.” Unfortunately we have become a generation of men pleasers but not God pleasers. Many so-called christians will only do the right thing when somebody is watching them, but they won’t do the right thing when nobody sees but God.
As Christians, our commitment should be, “I am going to do the right thing simply because it is right.” Character is also seen when we do the right thing to others even when the right thing isn’t happening to us. You must become so adjusted and accustomed to doing it right and doing the right thing such that, irrespective of whose horse is gored, God will and must be pleased by your conduct and character. I know this seems like a far cry in our generation, but it still remains the standard.

DECLARATION:
Dear Abba Father, I thank You for life and the privilege given me to walk in Your will and counsel. Lord I ask that You help me to care about my character as much as You do. Convict me; help me to be discipline; teach me humility; and change me. Make me like You, Lord, and teach me to pray and seek You in every area–especially that I would be formed into the image of Christ in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
