Don't Touch The Glory Of God.

"But let him who boasts boast in the LORD. For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends." 2 Cor. 10:17-18 (NIV).

A man once rose up in a meeting to give his testimony to the saving grace of God. He told how the Lord had won his heart and given deliverance from the guilt and power of sin. He spoke of Christ and His work but said nothing of any efforts of his own. The leader of the meeting was of a legalistic mind, and when this man's testimony was ended he said, "Our brother has only told us of the Lord's part in his salvation. When I was converted, there was a whole lot I had to do myself before I could expect the Lord to do anything for me. Brother, didn't you do your part first before God did His?" The other was on his feet in an instant and replied, "Yes, sir, I clean forgot. I didn't tell you about my part, did I? Well, I did my part for over 30 years, running away from God as fast as ever my sins could carry me. That was my part. And God took after me till He ran me down. That was His part."

Sharing God’s glory when telling of His good works is essentially stealing credit for something He accomplished through us, which is a dangerous spiritual trap. God is a jealous God who guards His reputation and honour. He has stated directly that His glory belongs to Him alone, not to be shared with human beings or idols. "I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images." — Isaiah 42:8 (NASB). When God works, He uses humans as tools, but the power, wisdom, and effort that bring about the result come from Him. Taking credit is like a brush taking credit for a masterpiece painted by an artist. 

Failing to give God the glory can result in severe consequences, as demonstrated in Scripture by individuals who allowed themselves to be praised instead of directing it to God. When we share in the glory of a testimony, we make God appear small or equal to ourselves, rather than showcasing His immense power. True worship involves elevating God's "weighty" greatness, not ours. Taking credit now means receiving the temporary accolades of men, rather than the eternal reward from God. Humility ensures that our work is truly fruitful for the Kingdom. God’s good works are often done in our weakness to prove that it is His grace, not our strength, that achieves victory. Sharing in the glory hides the miracle of His grace operating in a weak vessel. Selah!

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, I ask that You help me cultivate humility, forgive me for the times I have sought my own glory instead of Yours. Strip away any arrogance, selfishness, or self-centeredness that resides in me. When things go well, help me to remember that all success comes from You. I renounce pride and haughtiness, and I choose to walk in the fruit of the Spirit, not the works of the flesh. Mold me into a person who brings glory to Your name alone, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
