Your tongue can heal or kill.

Wed. April 3rd. 2024.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.” Prov. 18:21.

The Bible says death and life are in the power of the tongue. The book of James tells us that if a man can tame his tongue, then such a man is indeed a matured man. No doubt one of the signs of Christian maturity is to be able to tame your tongue. In fact, James says the tongue can no man tame. For me that is so apt. Only Christ through the ministry of the Holy Spirit working in us, can control our tongue. It means our tongue has to be surrendered to the government of Christ through His words.

Call forth what you want to see.

The book of Proverbs are just full of verses that have to do with taming your tongue and the resultant consequences of inappropriate use of your tongue. Sometimes when you speak hastily or when you speak without much reflection, the results are always negative and unnecessary. James also tells us that the tongue is like a fire. That it sets on fire the course of hell. Meaning that it starts with a little fire but it spreads like a wild forest fire, which is out of control.

Call forth what you want to see.

Our words can enrich our lives, it can also reduce us to ruble, we can be enslaved by poor choice of words. What we say with our mouth is very important. We are created in the image of God and God made the world with words. In fact the Bible says the Word of God framed the worlds. Not only did the Word of God frame the worlds, but also the world consists and continues to exist by the power of the Word of God. We must therefore understand that we can frame our own lives through our own words. Use your mouth well and reap the product of good usage. Using your mouth well, starts with prayers instead of gossip, encouragement instead of discourement, talk scriptures rather than mere words. I wish you well, on this journey towards right use of your tongue.
