Live victorious in God’s will.
The Goal Of Life.
Tues. April 2nd. 2024.
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” – Eccle. 12:13 KJV.
What is the goal of life? To accumulate the most money, wealth and affluence? This is how many people view life including Christian. A man called Reuben Klamer, who died September 14, 2021, at 99. Introduced a game called The Game of Life in 1960. The purpose was to earn the most wealth. The way you got there was simple enough—by going to college, getting a job, buying insurance, saving for retirement. That was “indicative of what sold in that era,” Yes in the 60s, that was a normal routine to coming into wealth and affluence. But I’m compelled to ask again, is life designed to truly be like the game of life? Go to school and save up for wealth until you die? There has got to be more to life.
Bible is very clear as to what our purpose in life should be. Men in both the Old and New Testaments sought for and discovered life’s purpose. Men in both the Old and New Testaments sought for and discovered life’s purpose. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, discovered the futility of life when it is lived only for this world. Solomon says that life is all about honouring God with our thoughts and lives and thus keeping His commandments, for one day we will stand before Him in judgement. Part of our purpose in life is to fear God and obey Him.
Another part of our purpose is to see life on this earth in perspective. Unlike those whose focus is on this life, King David looked for His satisfaction in the time to come. He said, “And I—in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness” Psa. 17:15. To David, full satisfaction would come on the day when he will awake (in the next life) beholding God’s face (fellowship with Him) and being like Him. I think this too is a good reason to live beyond wanting to acquire everything available here on earth and afterwards die unsung. God forbid it.
