“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” James 1:5.
We seem to live in the age of outrage and damage. There seems to be confusion unleashed everywhere. Why are there double standards in society? Moral decadence, no one seems to be able to differentiate between what is right and wrong. The clear lines between good and evil are being washed away, what is good and what is evil is now left to your ability To discern because the society calls evil good and good is seen as being spooky. If you do not come under clear biblical teaching and embrace sound biblical wisdom you are surely an endangered species these days. Corruption is at an all time high on all levels of government and no one bats an eye? Orientation about sexuality has become wapt in our days.
These are issues that boggle the minds of many. But the Bible has the answer to help us distinguish between good and evil. God also offers the power of discernment to those willing to understand. God did not leave mankind in the dark to figure out the difference between good and evil on our own. God wants us to make a distinction and to choose to do what is good. King David wrote, “Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it” Psalm 34:14. The apostle John also points out where God desires His committed followers to stand: “Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God” 3 John 1:11.
When we can’t distinguish between good or evil, when we can’t discern whether the motives of others are right or wrong, the first place to go is to God, our Heavenly Father in prayer. Wisdom is clearly and unarguably the principal thing, in all you get, you must as a matter of necessity get wisdom. When Solomon set out to get wisdom from God, God was so pleased with Solomon that He approved his request. “I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you” 1 Kings 3:12. Embracing godly wisdom is the secret of flying high and eschewing evil in our days, get godly wisdom.
