Exposing The Works Of Darkness.

“Have regard for your covenant, because haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land.” Psa. 74:20. NIV.
Some time ago we noticed that a tree planted at the sunny end of a house had large and beautiful blossoms. It was a feast to the eyes; but what an amazing difference in some of the branches trained round the corner of the house where they got much less sun. The blossoms were starved and drooping, and there was little promise of fruit. They had the same root and stem in common, but while one part of the tree was in the full glorious light, the other branches were in the shade without much sunlight. Sunlight made much difference in their fruit bearing as branches, even though they are of the same root, stem and branches. I know this reality may be a rude shock to you, but it remains the reality of nature. Amazingly this same phenomenon is expressed in our lives as believers. We may attend the same church, hear the same sermon, be leaders even in the faith community and yet if we are starved of God's light in any area such an area of our lives may end up being fruitless.
Our character may also be affected in the same way by insufficient enlightenment. The dark places produce unfruitful branches: strange weaknesses, distortions, immaturities, indirection, failures in practical life and conduct. As believers we are actually told in scriptures never to partake in the fruitless works of darkness, rather we are called to expose the "fruitless works of darkness". It means bringing them into the light so they can be seen for what they truly are. This is not about gossip or malicious condemnation, but rather about transforming society through righteous living. The primary way to expose darkness is to live in the light. By maintaining personal holiness and high moral standards, your life acts as a contrast that naturally illuminates the dark areas around you. This involves having no personal part in compromising values.
To expose darkness, you must first discern it. This requires a deep understanding of scripture to know what pleases the Lord. Without this, you might unknowingly and unwittingly participate in the very works you should be exposing. Darkness thrives when ignored or joined. "Taking no part" means refusing to support, endorse, or tolerate sinful activities, even when they are socially acceptable. This passive refusal is a powerful, active form of exposure. Jesus is the Light of the World. Exposing darkness involves presenting Christ and his gospel to immoral, dishonest, or unethical situations, rather than merely debating ethics. Your life should make the fruit of the light visible. Selah!

DECLARATION:
Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, You are the Light that pierces the darkness. Lord, I choose to step out of every shadow and dwell in Your light. I receive Your truth to guide my steps, and I ask for the grace to walk in integrity and righteousness. May my home and my heart be filled with Your divine presence, free from the stains of darkness. I walk in freedom, power, and glory. My path is illuminated, and Your favour rests upon me in Jesus' name. Amen."
