Free To Choose.

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.” Matt. 6:24.

There is a British saying I always love, It's "penny wise, pound foolish". From my understanding what it means is , "making decisions based on conserving small amounts ( Pennies ) of money means that we will end up spending larger amounts of money ( British Pounds) when we finally figured that the decision was a bad one".  A farmer wanted to save money on feed for his mule, so each day he mixed a tiny bit of sawdust into the animal's oats. Seeing that it seemed to be working seemingly, he kept increasing the sawdust little by little. Just as the farmer thought he had tricked the system and trained the mule to eat pure sawdust, the mule died of starvation. Small compromises with sin or bad habits do not sustain life; they slowly starve the soul to death.

Small, seemingly harmless compromises act as the "little foxes" that slowly destroy your moral foundation. Tolerating minor moral or ethical concessions never satisfies temptation; it only weakens your defenses, gradually eroding your character until major disobedience feels normal. Minor concessions condition the heart to accept larger ethical failures over time. What begins as a "small" white lie or a brief bending of rules desensitizes your conscience, ultimately paving the way for major moral downfalls. Life does not allow for a middle ground between righteousness and worldly conformity. Allowing a "little bit" of the world into your life slowly shifts your devotion, ultimately leading you to despise the things of God.

Sin and compromise possess a contagious, multiplying nature. Tolerating a minor sinful attitude or habit in your personal life will inevitably permeate your thoughts and actions, corrupting your entire witness. Every time you intentionally cross a godly boundary, you give the enemy a foothold in your life. While grace covers our mistakes, deliberate concessions swing the door wide open for spiritual attacks, confusion, and broken peace. Lawlessness and compromise are naturally destructive to spiritual zeal. When you start making exceptions for your core beliefs, your love for truth, purity, and God gradually fades into apathy. Lord, I acknowledge that there are areas in my life where I have compromised Your truth, watered down my convictions, and aligned with the patterns of this world. I repent of these things and ask that You cleanse me. I ask that the fire of the Holy Spirit consumes every seed of compromise planted in my heart. Remove every desire to blend in, and grant me the boldness to stand firm in my faith, even when it is difficult in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
