“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Pro. 3:5-6.

Many Christians read the Bible regularly, believing it is God’s living and revealed Word for their lives. Over and over in the pages of Scripture, they read about generations who heard the voice of God. They read of God speaking to his people again and again, with this phrase repeated time after time: Yet many of these same Christians live as though God doesn’t speak to his people anymore today. An entire generation of believers has come to make decisions completely on their own based of pecuniary intentions, without praying or consulting God’s Word. Many simply decide what they want to do, and then ask God to validate it. They move ahead forcefully and obstinately, their only prayer being, Lord, I command everything hindering me to be stopped in Jesus name. Not minding if God Himself is the one working to step them.

We are now living in a time referred to as the hasty generation. People are making major decisions in haste. This is the generation that thinks without thinking. The idea is, just trust your instincts. The challenge here is such thinking has begun to infect the church, affecting the decisions made. Many of us pastors find it difficult to seek the Lord on any issue we just go right in to carry it out. All we do is to starts with planning and execution without deep time of searching of God’s mind to hear Him and to gain access to his divine counsel.

As from today, everything changes. You will trust the Lord with all your heart and you will not henceforth lean on your own understanding. Just a few years ago, the watchwords amongst Christians were: Did you pray about this matter? Have you sought the Lord concerning it? Are your brothers and sisters surrounding you in prayer? Have you received godly counsel? I ask you, has this been your practice? In the past year, how many important decisions have you made with God involved. The reason God wants full control of our lives is to save you from disasters which is exactly where most of our decisions lead us without Christ.
