Going Deeper With Christ.

"But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles." Matt.13:20-21.

A small company in the early days of gold mining in South Africa sank shaft after shaft in different locations, finding only a small amount of gold in each shaft. The prospectors felt discouraged after all their laborious efforts, the result was not commensurate with the labour. However, they decided to try another location around, this time around they sank the shaft deeper. A shaft is a deep vertical or inclined tunnel used to access underground gold deposits that are too deep to reach from the surface. They suddenly discovered that all they needed to have done was to go deeper in the first shaft, for, as they did so, they found gold in abundance. I find this to be true in spiritual matters too, You may have tried all sorts of different shafts, hoping for greater results in your life. Christ has now become the end of all your search. Revival will mean coming back to the place where you first began, all you will need to do is to go deeper in the Spirit, in His word and practice of godliness.

Living as a shallow believer leaves us spiritually defenseless, unproductive, and vulnerable to falling away. The scriptures warn that superficial faith cannot survive life's inevitable storms. To experience the fullness and protection of God, we must actively build deep, rooted spiritual lives. Superficial believers may look fine in calm seasons, but when affliction or persecution hits, they quickly abandon their faith because they lack inner strength and spiritual depth. Believers without deep biblical knowledge lack spiritual discernment. They are easily misled by deceptive doctrines and cultural trends. It is a dangerous trap to merely listen to God’s word without actually putting it into practice. It is a dangerous trend to be a regular church attendee that doesn't practice the word of God. This creates a false sense of righteousness with no notable commitments and of cause results.

Building a spiritual life on the surface rather than digging deep into the foundation of God’s teachings leaves a believer's life completely exposed when the floods of life come. A primary purpose of the Christian life is to bear good fruit (love, joy, peace, etc.). The worldly worries and shallow roots choke out spiritual growth and fruitfulness. God wants an intimate relationship with us, not just lip service or emotional, short-lived enthusiasm. God calls us to be firmly planted in Christ so that we are established, strengthened, and able to abound in thanksgiving regardless of circumstances. To move from shallowness to spiritual depth, prioritize daily engagement with the Word, intentional prayer, and active obedience to what you learn. Selah!

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, I pray that You would open my eyes to see Your presence in my daily life and soften my heart to Your leading. Give me a hunger for Your Word and a spirit of wisdom to understand it. Strengthen my prayer life, Lord, so that I may bring all my joys, struggles, and doubts to You with honesty and peace. As I grow in knowledge of Your truth, empower me to put my faith into practice. Guide my hands to serve others, teach me to love my neighbours as You have loved me, and grant me the courage to live out Your teachings every single in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
