“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” 1 Peter. 2:2. NIV.
A wealthy businessman was horrified to see a fisherman sitting beside his
boat, playing with a small child. “Why aren’t you out fishing?” asked the businessman. “Because I caught enough fish for one day,” replied the fisherman. “Why don’t you catch some more?” “What would I do with them?”
“You could earn more money,” said the businessman. “Then with the extra money, you could buy a bigger boat, go into deeper waters, and catch more fish. Then you would make enough money to buy nylon nets. With the nets, you could catch even more fish and make more money. With that money you could own two boats, maybe three boats. Eventually you could have a whole fleet of boats and be rich like me.” “Then what would I do?” asked the fisherman. “Then,” said the businessman, “you could really enjoy life.” The fisherman looked at the businessman with amazement and asked, “What do you think I am doing now?”
Some people can't live the life that God called them to live now, they have postponed it until when they make money. As believers committed to Jesus you do not need to strive after the mundane life. You have already attained new life through dying with Christ in salvation. But you do need to nurture that new life so it can grow and mature. That’s what church is for. That’s what Bible study is for. That’s what prayer is for. It is like the Parable of the Sower. Many of those seeds sprouted up, but only a few grew into maturity. The rest withered and died. Coming into relationship with Jesus is dying to our self-centered endeavours and being resurrected into a life marked by grace and love. When we live in the baptism of Jesus, we touch the hearts of others and help open them to the Holy Spirit and new life in Christ. Are you living and growing in the new life you have been given?
Growth to the believer is a necessity but it doesn't happen automatically. Our text gives us an inkling into how this should happen. It says we are like new born babies before the Lord. It's our responsibility to crave, so you know what it means to have cravings. It's a never ending desire for something. You can't have enough of such things. We must crave for pure spiritual milk to aid growth in spiritual realities. Growth requires actively applying what you learn from the Bible to your life, moment by moment. Obedience brings joy and deepens your fellowship with God and other believers. Fellowship with Other Christians, surrounding yourself with a Christ-centered community provides accountability, support, and encouragement to grow in your faith. Joining with others helps "burn more brightly" in your spiritual life and journey. Selah!

DECLARATION:
Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, I thank You for the glorious life You have given me in Christ Jesus, a life of blessings, excellence, health, victory, and strength. I ask that You open my eyes to see the abundance of spiritual blessings I already possess in Christ. I choose to walk in Your marvelous light and display Your virtues to the world.
