Increase Your Commitment.
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James. 5:8.
A young Colombian girl was given a new testament Bible. She reads it until one day her father caught her reading it…and told her not to read it any more because it was full of lies. But the girl kept on reading it until one day her father found her with the New Testament Bible, he grabbed it from her hands and put it in his pocket. He went off to work in a Mine. Several hours later sirens went off, there had been a cave in at the Mine. The father was trapped. The rescue workers took 5 days to finally reach the men, but it was too late. All 31 men died including the father of this little girl. Workers found the man clutching the New Testament between his praying hands.
When they opened it they read a note “To my daughter. Keep reading this New Testament, it is true and right, and I will see you one day in heaven.” Then they turned to the back page where the father had signed the commitment card after having said the sinner’s prayer. Turning the page there were signed the names of the other 30 workers. He didn’t just get saved at the point of death, he became an Evangelist leading his colleagues to Christ. Ultimately their death was not a loss to heaven. Although, we don’t have to wait until, it’s late to totally yield ourselves to the saving knowledge of the gospel of Christ.
In certain countries of the world where religion is outlawed, Christians are tested by hardship, but in a country like ours you are tested by freedom. And testing by freedom is much harder. Nobody pressures you about your religion. So you relax and are not so concentrated on Christ, on His teaching, how He wants you to live. Don’t become weary with being all Christ wants you to be, don’t become carried away with the pursuit of the mundane, you must lay hold on the eternal and keep at it. Your commitment must remain unalloyed to Christ and the principles of yieldedness and being sold out to obedience, you will be rightly rewarded at the end. Selah!
