Increase Your Inner Capacity.

"You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4, NIV).

I read about a man who  took his son to the movies for an outing. While they were settling in to determine what movie, his son ran up to the popcorn counter and asked for the biggest juice bucket! His  dad was taken aback, so he said, “Son, you’ll never be able to finish  all that, my it's too big for you!” The boy answered, “Don’t worry, Dad, I’m a lot bigger on the inside than on the outside.” His father was quite shocked but he has learnt a major lesson to life, You can be bigger within you even if life constraints make you small. The question therefore this morning is how many of you are bigger within? True inner enlargement comes from consuming and meditating on Scripture, not just intellectual knowledge. Just as physical food sustains the body, the Word of God must be internalized to dominate your inner life, which then changes your external environment and spiritual capacity

Becoming bigger within requires recognizing your limitations and relying completely on God’s strength, not your own. A life that is large within is one that frequently fights battles on the knees, developing a deep intimacy with God that provides peace, purpose, and inner, enduring power. You must prioritize God-centered perspective over human approval. To grow internally, you must shift from seeking recognition from men to living in reverential awe of God. When you stop worrying about what others think and focus on pleasing God, you gain a confidence and stability that is not easily shaken by circumstances.

You must embrace brokenness and repentance. Maturity is not a gift of the spirit, it is cultivated through processes that you have been subjected through in life. God often uses brokenness as a requirement for maximum usefulness and inner, spiritual strength. Confessing sins and repenting  allows for spiritual maturity to grow within you, replacing pride with a reliance on God’s grace. Internal capacity expands when you move from self-interest to serving others. By viewing your life, skills, and influence as gifts to be stewarded for God’s kingdom—rather than tools for personal gain—you cultivate a character that reflects Christ, which is the ultimate form of "inner greatness".
