“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Rom. 8:28.
A large, two-engined train was making its way across cities to its destination, while crossing some mountainous area, one of the engines broke down. “No problem, we can make it to the nearest station and get a replacement engine there,” the engineer thought, and carried on at half power. Further down the line. Unfortunately, the other engine broke down, and the train came to a standstill in the middle of nowhere. The engineer needed to inform the passengers about why the train had stopped, and always trying to look on the bright side of things, made the following announcement:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that both engines have failed, and we will be stuck here for some time until the additional engines arrive. The good news is that you didn’t take this trip in a plane! This would have meant the end of the journey and the end of life.” Well, the Engineer tried to make them see the brighter side, in the whole situation. We must learn in life never to dwell on the negatives of every situation that comes our way. No matter how tough things get, resilient people will always outlast any situation. Strengthen your faith in God, even for times when you are unsure of your future and your direction.
God gives us His assurance that He will not forsake us and that we should trust in His perfect timing to give what our hearts desire. Believe that if you trust in Him, he will give what is best for you and not what you think is best for you. God knows what we do not yet know, so do not be anxious. He knows your thoughts and He will grant what is best for you. Some of us generally have issues with trust. We don’t trust ourselves, we don’t trust our friends nor do we trust God. So we find it difficult to lean on him during crises and challenges. The good news is whether you trust Him or not he will not abandon you.
