Learning To Pay Forward.

"Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done". Prov. 19:17.

In 1784 Benjamin Franklin, one of America's diplomats, politicians and scientists wrote the following letter to a man named Benjamin Webb: “Dear Sir: Your situation grieves me and I send you  10 louis d’or [a former French currency]. I do not pretend to give you such a sum; I only lend it to you. When you return to your country, and start doing  well, you must pay back your debts. In that case, when you meet with another honest man in similar distress, you must pay me by lending the sum to him, asking him to pay back his own debt in the same manner. I hope it may continue through many hands before it meets with a rogue that will stop its progress. This is a trick of mine for doing a deal of good with a little money. I am not rich enough to afford much in good works, and so I am obliged to be cunning and make the most of a little.

I suppose you got the clear message of the letter. There is no good that's done to you that is designed to end with you. Saying thank you is not the answer to the good you received, you must make the merry go round. So many Christians have turned their lives to a dead end, anything that gets to them dies a natural death. They don't flow into other lives to benefit them. Living a life that gives back is fundamentally rooted in gratitude and the recognition that one’s achievements are often enabled by the support of others. This approach moves beyond sporadic charity toward a consistent, lifestyle-oriented "paying it forward" mindset. 

It becomes imperative to Practice Proactive Gratitude. You must actively recognize and appreciate what you have rather than focusing on what you lack. Gratitude transforms your mindset from scarcity to abundance, making you more likely to share. Cultivate genuine selflessness, give from the heart without ulterior motives or expectations of reciprocity. True generosity is about providing, not negotiating a return on investment. Offer your best time, energy, and resources, not just your leftovers, don't forget that freely you received freely you must cultivate how to give back. Embrace the concept that when you receive, you are obligated to give back, continuing an eternal cycle of compassion. Selah!
