“And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.” Isa. 42:16.
In every phase of life, we find ourselves needing God’s help. Whether providing for our necessities, restoring our health, guiding us through challenges, helping us make life-changing decisions, navigating and building healthy relationships, or seeking comfort when we are overwhelmed with life’s troubles, God’s help is essential. Life without His help would be miserable. A major problem in the development of the first sewing machine was the location of the eye of the needle. Inventor Elias Howe was rapidly running out of money and ideas when one night he had a peculiar dream. He was being led to his execution for failing to design a sewing machine for the king of a strange country. He was surrounded by guards, all of whom carried spears that were pierced near the head. Realizing instantly that this was the solution to his problem, Howe woke up and rushed straight to his workshop. By nine o’clock that morning the design of the first sewing machine was well on the way to completion.
God is not reluctant to speak to us if we need to hear from him and can be trusted to make good use of a personal message from him. God loves to speak! This is why the Bible begins in the creation account of Genesis 1 with the refrain, “And God said…” What a blessing it is to hear God’s voice! His words bring his life. Not only did God speak the creation into existence, he also sustains all of life by his words (Heb. 1:3). Today he is still speaking to our hearts in “gentle whispers” (1 Kings 19:12) that create and renew life in us and around us. He speaks to comfort us, correct us, and guide us. He speaks because he loves us and wants to be in an interactive, intimate relationship with us. He may sometimes speak in pictures, dreams
or vision whichever way there is a significant posture you need to take for you to get God to respond to bring you direction.
All Christians should be people who seek the Lord daily and with their whole hearts, but unfortunately, this mindset is not what characterizes much of the church today. All too often, believers think they don’t have enough time to seek God in an intensive way, but perhaps it isn’t a time problem, it’s an appetite problem: we are hungering after the wrong things. You must learn to remain persistent in hunger and thirst such that you seek him daily. You must always posture and texture your heart to be receptive to God's instructions. Don't live and feed yourself with imaginations that are not word and spirit based, that is the easiest way to go astray. God’s desire is that your hunger and thirst draws you to him to seek, ask and open your mind for him to speak to you, lead you, bring you accurate promptings for your next level. Selah!
