Living By God's Truth.

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." James 5:16
A young boy accidentally broke a beautiful, expensive glass pitcher while his parents were out. Panicking, he grabbed a paper bag, swept the broken glass into it, and hid it in the very back of his closet. When his mother came home, she noticed the pitcher was missing and asked what happened. The boy lied and said he didn’t know. For days, he lived in dread. He could not sleep, he avoided eye contact with his mother, and every creak in the house made him think he was about to get caught. Finally, the burden of the lie became too heavy. He broke down, confessed to his mother, and handed her the bag of glass. To his surprise, she did not scream. She pulled him into a hug, forgave him, and helped him clean up the mess. When we try to hide our sins or mistakes, we end up punishing ourselves. Hiding separates us from God and others, but confession brings instant relief and grace.
People often try to hide their mistakes and wrongs. This usually happens out of fear, pride, and a desire to protect their image. They worry that friends, family, or their community will judge them, look down on them, or reject them if the truth comes out. Our pride makes it difficult to admit when we are wrong. Admitting a sin requires humility, which can feel like a blow to our ego. Many people try to fix their own problems to prove they do not need help. No doubt the world we live in, good image seems to mean the world. People hide their secret sins to maintain a perfect public persona, fearing that exposure will ruin their career, social standing, or respect. But the reality is that, secret sins, will eventually expose you and when it does, you may never recover.
To receive help, the very first step is to stop making excuses and honestly admit your wrongs to God. Confession clears the air, removes the burden of guilt, and brings immediate spiritual relief. Confession must be paired with genuine repentance, which means making a firm decision to change your behaviour. You must let go of your self-reliance and ask God for His strength. If your sins have harmed other people, part of the healing process is to apologize and seek reconciliation with them. Do not fight your battles in isolation. Find trusted, mature believers, mentors, or counselors who can support you, hold you accountable, and pray for you during difficult times. Finally, you must accept that you are forgiven. Do not let past guilt weigh you down; trust that God's love is greater than your mistakes and that He gives you a fresh start each day.
