"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." — Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)

A young man attended an informal gathering in a Christian home where those who attended were encouraged freely to express any perplexities that stood in the way of belief. "I went into the woods one day," this young man said to the group, "and sat down on a sandy patch of ground and said to God, 'God if you will destroy that little pine tree I am looking at, I will believe in you.' I sat there a long while, but nothing happened. Now, if there was a God, why didn't He reveal Himself to me when I asked Him to?" He was honestly troubled and obviously in earnest, yet, not knowing the Scriptures, he erred. Man does not set the conditions by which he will condescend to believe in God, but God sets forth the conditions under which He will reveal Himself to man. Man must come to Him through the provision He has made in Christ, repent of his sin, and yield his heart to the purifying action of the Holy Spirit. Then and only then will he "see God."

Human understanding is limited, but God is omniscient (all-knowing). His plans are designed for a purpose higher than our immediate comfort, ensuring better outcomes than we can map out ourselves. When we try to force God to follow our agenda, we experience anxiety. Submitting to Him leads to trust, which brings peace and allows Him to clear obstacles from our path. Following God's will is a transformative process. Surrendering our will daily changes us to be more like Christ, moving us from glory to glory. The scripture says in 2 Cor. 3:18 "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." (NIV)

Our own terms are often based on selfish ambition or short-sighted desire. God’s will is inherently good, designed to bring about our ultimate spiritual welfare. Demanding that God follow our terms is a form of pride that makes us vulnerable. True spiritual protection and victory come through humility and submission to God. God is not a "vending machine" to fulfill our demands. As Creator, He holds authority over all things, and it is unreasonable to expect Him to submit to our limited agenda. Even in the face of immense suffering, Jesus surrendered His personal desire to the Father’s plan, showing that the highest form of spiritual maturity is submission to God's will. "Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.’" Matt. 26:39. NIV.

DECLARATION:

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Heavenly Father, I come before You today to surrender my will to Yours. I recognize that Your wisdom is perfect and Your plans for me are good. I ask that You align my heart, thoughts, words, and actions with Your divine purpose. I apologize for the times I have placed my own will before Yours. I ask for the grace to say 'yes' to Your will, even when it is difficult, and to trust in Your timing rather than running ahead in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
