Living With A Clear Conscience.

“And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.” Acts. 24:16.

A young and intelligent man was arrested for wrongdoing. He got the team of the best lawyers, who helped him to argue his case even up to the Supreme court. Even in the Supreme court, he won despite being guilty. The Supreme Court Justice in the United States Horace Gray who presided over the case, knew that he escaped conviction due to technicality. As Gray prepared to release the criminal, he looked the man in the eyes and said: "I know that you are guilty and you know it. And I wish you to remember that one day you will stand before a better and wiser Judge, and that there you will be dealt with according to justice and not according to law." Here on earth no doubt, the law can be circumvented and sometimes manipulated, but the convincing power of God’s truth exposes the true state of our hearts. If the law frees you, your heart and conscience may not. 

God's justice system starts with your conscience, the court may free you, while your conscience convicts you. Living with a clear conscience is essential for believers because it protects your faith from shipwreck, anchors your inner peace, and provides a bold, unashamed testimony to a watching world. Ignoring the promptings of your conscience can lead to disastrous spiritual consequences. The Apostle Paul warns believers to hold firmly to faith and a clear conscience so their spiritual lives do not suffer total devastation. A clean conscience removes the barrier of guilt, allowing you to approach God and lift your hands in prayer with total assurance and without doubt. 

Living righteously before both God and humanity ensures that your character aligns with your confession of faith. A blameless inner life translates into an honest, respectable outward lifestyle. When the world speaks evil of you or falsely accuses your character, a consistently good conscience exposes their lies and ultimately puts them to shame. The purpose of God's commands is not to burden you, but to produce genuine love, a pure heart, and a clear conscience. Under the Old Covenant, sacrifices could only cleanse outward rituals, but the blood of Jesus has the power to wash your inner being so you can serve and worship the living God with joy. Leaders and believers are specifically called to anchor the profound truths of the faith in a clean and uncorrupted inner life. Selah!

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, I ask that You search my heart and purify my conscience. Purge me of any hidden motives, deceit, or unrighteousness so that I may serve You with a sincere and blameless heart. Give me the strength to live with a clear conscience toward You and my fellow man. Grant me the wisdom to treat others with love, honesty, and respect. Guard my thoughts, words, and actions so that they bring honour to Your name in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
