Living With Eternity In View.

“His master told him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy servant! Since you’ve been trustworthy with a small amount, I’ll put you in charge of a large amount. Come and share your master’s joy!” Matt. 25:21.

A very famous king of an ancient kingdom gave his court jester a wooden staff and said, "Keep this until you find a bigger fool than yourself." Years later, the king lay very sick and dying and told his court, "I am going on a very long journey, and I shall not return." The jester asked, "What provisions and preparations have you made for your journey there?" The king replied, "None." He further asked the King, “what exactly do you know about where you are going?” “ I don't know much, I will get to know when I get there.” The jester handed him the staff back, saying, "Use this. You are going on a journey from which you never return and made no preparation for it? You are a bigger fool than I am." Ignoring spiritual preparation for anything, especially your eternity is the height of human folly. 

Preparing for eternity means accepting God's gift of salvation, living a holy life, and storing up treasures in heaven. Being faithful with small responsibilities given to you on earth prepares your heart for greater trust and leadership in eternity. When you treat your daily tasks, finances, and time as gifts from God, you build a character that honours Him. God watches how you handle minor duties and uses them to test your reliability for future kingdom assignments. The master in Jesus' parable looks at how well his servants managed what they were given. He rewards honest effort with a much larger charge and invites them into his ultimate happiness.

Doing good deeds quietly, without needing praise from people, ensures your reward comes directly from God. When you give to the poor, help a neighbour, or serve your community out of the public eye, you prove that your love is pure. Seeking human applause robs you of heavenly value, but hidden acts are permanently recorded by God. Your heavenly Father sees every unselfish choice you make away from the spotlight. He values the sincerity of a quiet heart over loud recognition and promises an open reward. Placing your eternal focus on God rather than temporary physical wealth shifts your entire value system. Earthly items break, fade, and get stolen, but what you invest into God's kingdom lasts forever. Choosing to spend your resources on things that matter to God creates a secure account in heaven.

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, help me to live for your eternal kingdom rather than chasing things that fade away. Grant me the wisdom to invest my time, heart, and strength in your permanent truth, love, and heavenly promises. Set my daily thoughts on your unchanging presence and everlasting love. Free my heart from the heavy pull of short-lived fame, wealth, and earthly troubles. Teach me to love others and serve your truth in ways that matter forever in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
