“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19.
Charles Spurgeon told this story of his grandfather James and his faith in God. “He had a large family and a very small income, but he loved his God, and he would not have given up his preaching of the gospel for anything.” One day the cow on which the family relied for milk for the children suddenly died. James Spurgeon’s wife was greatly concerned, but he said, “God said He would provide, and I believe He could send us fifty cows if He pleased.” On that same day, a group met in London—a group James Spurgeon did not know—that wanted to help meet the needs of poor pastors. This group raised the money to support poor Pastors. It was a large sum of money. When they reached the end of the list, there were still five pounds left. One man suggested sending it to James Spurgeon. Another said, “No, let’s not send just five pounds. Let me add five more to go with it.” Others joined in, and the day after his cow died, James Spurgeon received twenty pounds in the mail! That was way more than the worth of the cow he lost. God was indeed a capable provider.
You can trust God with your life. He is the very present help in your time and hour of need. He will meet your needs in diverse ways. Atimes, all he requires from you is to be still and know that He is the Lord. Some other time. He may have you take a faith action, what matters in the long run is God is able to make all grace abound to you in all situations and circumstances such that you will abound with more than enough for life and godliness. It is your responsibility to trust him long enough for him to come through for you. God is always good.
The miracle of Jesus feeding five thousand people is the premier biblical example of God providing when our own means seem inadequate. God never runs short of supplies, He may not instantly answer all our prayers but He will constantly answer. You must never get tired of looking up to Him for your daily provisions and sustenance. The proof of your faith is that you can trust God with your life. If you can’t trust Him with your life then you don’t trust him at all. The proof of desire is pursuit. Your tenacity, your commitment to the doing of God’s word, is your best bet to your receiving God’s supplies, don’t quit trusting and asking, God will meet you at the point of your need. Selah!
