Make Heaven Your Priority.

"And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." Gal. 5:24.
Every year, tech companies release a new smartphone. People line up for hours and spend a thousand Naira just to get a phone that is slightly faster or has a better camera than the one they already own. We are conditioned to chase every new upgrade right here on earth. Our minds are trained to look for immediate improvements in our current physical reality—better cars, bigger houses, higher salaries, medical fixes. When your main goal in life is getting the next earthly upgrade, heaven feels abstract, distant, and unnecessary. We start thinking, “If I can just get a better job, a better body, or a better political system, heaven can wait.” We reduce our ultimate hope to a better version of earth, losing our appetite for the holy perfection of God’s actual presence.
Living for eternal desires requires you to actively put your natural instincts to death. Your human nature naturally craves comfort, pride, and temporary pleasures, which constantly fight against spiritual growth. By consciously choosing to surrender these impulses to God every day, you make room for His eternal priorities to take root in your life. Your actions flow directly from your thoughts, meaning you must actively change how you think to overcome natural desires. The world constantly bombards you with messages that prioritize immediate self-gratification and material success. Guarding your mind and focusing your thoughts on God's truth shifts your appetite away from temporary worldly pleasures toward things of lasting value.
You cannot overcome natural desires through sheer willpower alone; you need the active guidance of the Holy Spirit. Walking in the Spirit means maintaining a continuous, prayerful connection with God and obeying His promptings throughout your day. As you allow the Spirit to direct your steps, His power naturally neutralizes the strong pull of your physical cravings. Your heart naturally follows what you value most, which makes re-evaluating your investments of time, money, and energy essential. Spending all your resources on earthly comfort binds your desires to this temporary world. Conversely, investing your resources into serving others, spreading the gospel, and building God's kingdom anchors your heart securely to eternal rewards.

DECLARATION:
Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, grant me the grace to be content with what I have. Deliver me from the trap of endless wanting. Subdue my worldly ambitions. Let your peace guard my mind. Remind me daily that my worth is found in you, not in my possessions. Calm my restless desires. Help me seek your kingdom first. Turn my eyes away from worthless things. Give me a hunger for truth, love, and service instead of status and wealth in Jesus name. Amen."
