“Then they will cry to the LORD, but he will not answer them; he will hide his face from them at that time, because they have made their deeds evil.” Micah. 3:4.
One day the radio blared, “There has been another earthquake in Chile.” It was a terrible tragedy for the people in Chile, but several thousand miles away, people on an island in Hawaii had looks of concern on their faces. Earthquakes in Chile can produce destructive tidal waves in Hawaii. The tell-tale signs are easy to observe. Each time the waves wash in over the sand, they come in a bit farther; each time they recede, they back out farther, leaving more sandy area uncovered. Wise observers stay in a safe shelter. But not all people are wise enough to pay attention and live cautiously.
Some Foolish folks stayed back to scoop fishes and colourful shells from the beach floor. They found so much pleasure and excitement in catching the fishes and picking up the colourful shells being released by the waves. Without further warning, suddenly the whole ocean was released in a mighty crash as tons of water in waves up to forty feet high came crashing into shore, sometimes as fast as six hundred miles per hour. There was only time for a loud cry for help, as the foolish people who ignored the warnings in order to loot the ocean floor, all perished with their treasures. These foolish people are like those who ignore the warnings of the coming judgement and try to outguess God by planning to prepare for it when it comes.
They continue to pick up the colorful treasures of this world and indulge in its passing pleasures. The prophet Micah says, in our text “Then shall they cry unto the Lord, but he will not hear them: He will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.” What we go after here in this life determines our destiny hereafter. We must mind how we live or else we may end up like fools. That will never be our portion in Jesus name. How we live now, determine our outcome thereafter, pls be wise.
