“making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil.” Eph. 5:16. Amp.

I read about a very rich man who was determined to give his mother a birthday present that would outshine all others. So he spent some time seeking what exactly could be a special gift for her. He finally came by that special bird. This was such a unique bird that had a vocabulary of about 4000 words, could speak in numerous languages and sing so well. He immediately bought the bird for $50,000 and had it delivered to his mother. He was so sure she would be proud of the new pet. The next day he phoned to see if she had received the bird. "What did you think of the bird?" he asked so proudly. She replied, "It was delicious."

It's often said, “when the purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable.” Life is no doubt about recognising and taking advantage of opportunities that are available to you in Christ Jesus. You must be accurately aware and be ready to act when opportunities appear, whether they are unexpected or a result of your own preparation. I have come to understand that recognizing and seizing opportunities is crucial for personal growth and success. When I look at successful people, I notice that success is rarely a matter of skill or talent. Most times, it's the result of recognizing opportunities and seizing them. Success is never the result of waiting around for the right opportunity to fall on your lap, it's about being knowledgeable enough t o recognise the opportunity to take advantage of.

If you want to get ahead in life and reach your goals, you have to be willing to go the distance and do whatever it takes. You have to understand that the opportunity you need might not come on a golden platter. It might even come as a problem, so you need to know how to recognize it and have the ability to sift through problems and reach your goals. Keep an open mind and be curious about the world around you. Opportunities often arise from unexpected places, so embrace new experiences and ideas. Identify what you want and create a visual image of it in your mind, this will help you recognize it when it comes your way. So that you don't end up like the woman in our story who ate her pet, because she was ignorant of the purpose of such a bird.
