“If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and all its fullness are mine. Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows (your obligations) to the Most High. And call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will glorify Me.” Psa. 50:12-15.
An elderly mother in Scotland gave up her son to the Lord as a Missionary. One day she went to a missionary society meeting where only contributing members who support the body with money were allowed. The doorkeeper asked, “Are you a contributor?” “I am afraid not,” she answered. When he wouldn’t let her in, she left disappointed. Pondering his words, she thought of her son who years before had gone as a missionary to Sierra Leone in West Africa. His body now lay buried in that distant land. She retraced her steps to the building and explained to the man.
“I forgot. You asked me if I was a contributor. I gave my only son, and he is now dead and buried in Sierra Leone. He lived and died as a Missionary.” The doorkeeper didn’t mince words; he hurriedly removed his cap, bowed graciously, and said, “Come in.” He then led her to a front seat. You may wonder why he did that. Although it was a meeting for those who financially funded Missions, here was a woman who gave more than money, she gave her only son who died for the mission, she sure deserves front row.
Our God is not a weak, poor God who needs stuff. He made everything with a word. He has a limitless supply of resources. He has no needs; he’s never had one. And even if he did have one, he wouldn’t come to us with it! So what does God want from us? He wants our unflinching and total commitment, not just your money. He wants your hearts, He wants you yielded. He wants your obedience and submission. Trust me this is more than money. It’s after you have done things that your financial giving now counts for something. Holding on and be sure to surrender your all, because God gave you His all when He gave you Jesus.
