“To keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions.” 2 Cor. 2:11. Amp.
Ignorance is a dangerous possession for the believer. God does not want you to be ignorant of spiritual realities. Paul was well aware of the dangers Satan poses to the believer who is not walking in accurate knowledge of the truth. Satan operates based on wiles and schemes. We are advised to watch out for his tricks lest we fall for his deception. What are some of the devil’s devious devices and sinister schemes? What are the tools of Satan in his mission to lure us into sin and away from God? Permit me to show you some of Satan’s surreptitious but deadliest devices.
Pride: It’s always a danger, especially when things are going well, such as in times of peace and prosperity. “Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: Deut.8:11. We all are prone to it and must watch out, never to fall cheaply for this tactics of the devil.
Envy: This is deep rooted pain and emotion which occurs when a person lacks certain qualities found in others. Then you may be willing to do anything to undermine such person’s qualities, skills, achievements or possession. That pain and discontent at the sight of another’s good fortune, stirred by “those who we think they ought to have such fortune too. It’s a dangerous sense of entitlement. Don’t fall for it.
Anger: Paul warned about the dangers of unreasonable anger. “‘Be angry, and do not sin’: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil” Eph.4:26-27. You must never give the devil a foothold in your life dew to anger. When we allow anger to have the upper hand, we don’t think clearly and we often act rashly.
Lust: People don’t like to be told what to do. The “forbidden pleasures” does seem to grab many folk’s attention and focus. You must keep yourself away from lust and all manner of evil desire, if you want to live and see good days. These my brothers and sisters are some of satanic wiles meant to derial you from the path of righteousness, if you guide against them, you will turn out just fine. Selah!
