Patience And Faith.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Heb. 11:1.

It was Oswald Chambers, the renowned Scottish Baptist evangelist, teacher, and author best known for the popular daily devotional My Utmost For His Highest, who wrote: “Patience is more than endurance. A saint’s life is in the hands of God like a bow and arrow in the hands of an archer. God is aiming at something the saint cannot see, and He stretches and strains, and every now and again the saint says – ‘I cannot stand anymore.’ – God does not heed. He goes on stretching till His purpose is in sight. Then he let the arrow fly.  Trust yourself in God’s hands. You will surely need all the patience you can muster at such point. Maintain your relationship to Jesus Christ by the patience of faith.

Job wrote: “Though He slay me, yet will I wait for Him.” (Job 13:15.). You cannot see Him just now, you cannot understand what He is doing, but you must trust Him and wait for Him. This is basically what faith is about. Faith is the heroic effort of your life; abandoning yourself in reckless confidence in God. Biblical faith is rooted in believing God’s promises rather than trusting in what is seen or felt. It involves taking God at His word, even when life's circumstances seem to contradict it. This principle involves surrendering control and relying completely on God rather than one's own understanding or strength. It includes casting cares on Him and trusting Him to provide in challenging times.

Biblical faith must refuse to quit, demonstrating conviction through endurance. It is the patience to wait for God’s perfect timing and to continue trusting even when answers are delayed. It worships and thanks God in the midst of pain, trials, or uncertainty, rather than seeking only comfort or escape. It is a firm, unwavering commitment to God's authority in every area of life. It may not always be easy but it's the way for the believer in all things. These principles align with the foundational idea that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen and that without faith it is impossible to please God. Selah!

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, I seek the gifts of faith and patience. Teach me to trust in Your perfect timing, even when I do not understand what You are doing. In times of uncertainty, help me to remain steadfast, knowing that Your plan is for my ultimate good. Lord, when I feel anxious, frustrated, or tempted to rush ahead, fill my heart with Your peace. Help me to remember that You are in control, and that waiting is not wasted time, but a season for my faith to be properly developed in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
