Planted To Flourish.

“And the remnant who have escaped of the house of Judah Shall again take root downward, And bear fruit upward.” Isa. 37:31.

The story of the Chinese bamboo tree is quite a fascinating tale. After planting the seed, you must water and nurture it daily for four to five years. With zero visible results. Yet, in the fifth year, it suddenly shoots up to 90 feet tall in just six weeks. During those first four years of seeming dormancy, the bamboo is not inactive. Instead, it spends the entire time building a massive, intricate root system underground. This unseen foundation is what allows the plant to support its rapid, explosive growth when the time comes. For me the take home here is that it's important you realize that outward progress does not always measure inward progress. When pursuing your goals, running a ministry, raising children or building a business, learning a skill, or working on personal development. You may feel like you are putting in effort without seeing any tangible results. However, every bit of hard work and consistency is helping you build a strong "foundation". The foundation is quite important is powering and sustaining the superstructure which will eventually manifest if you don't five up.

Our text clearly says, upward growth is precipitated by downward growth. Taking root downwards before bearing fruit upwards is the foundational law of spiritual and personal growth. It means internal character, stability, and intimate connection with God must be established in secret before outward success, ministry, or tangible results can be sustained. You cannot bear fruit by striving; you bear fruit by staying connected to the source. Spiritual nourishment happens when your roots draw life from the "Vine." Before a tree can support the weight of heavy branches and fruit, it must be firmly anchored against storms. Being deeply rooted in God’s love prevents you from being tossed by affliction. Roots grow in the dark and remain unseen. It takes time, hidden discipline, and patience to develop your inner life before public visibility. Many who don't understand this gave up too soon in destiny.

Character and integrity represent the root system. Outward ministry or gifting (the fruit) will eventually collapse without a deep foundation of personal righteousness and truth. Trials are designed to test the depth of your roots. Shallow faith withers under pressure, while deep roots tap into the "water" of the Spirit to endure hardship. Meditating on scripture provides the necessary nutrients for the soul. The word acts as the spiritual soil that causes the believer to grow and produce good works. Ultimately, it is God's grace and zeal that empower your growth. When you commit to establishing deep roots, God guarantees the ultimate productivity and flourishing of your life. This is the design of God for every living thing upon the earth. Selah!

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, I ask that when the weight is heavy, give me the grace to keep breathing and the courage to take it one day at a time. Strengthen my heart so I do not faint before my season of breakthrough arrives. Take away the anxiety of the unknown. Help me to be still and trust that You are fighting for me, clearing the way for my turnaround. Help me not to cut corners until my lasting change comes in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
