Pursuit Of Intimacy With God.

"O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water." Psa. 63:1.

A couple had been married for fifty years. Early in their marriage, they sat close on the porch, talked for hours, and shared every little detail of their day. But over the decades, life happened. Bills, work, and daily chores piled up. Years later, they still lived in the same house. They sat in the same living room, but they sat in separate chairs. They ate meals in comfortable, heavy silence. One evening, the husband looked across the room at his wife. He realized that while they were completely familiar with each other's habits, routines, and presence, the actual intimacy—that vibrant, tender, heart-to-heart connection—had grown cold. They were roommates of habit, not partners of the heart.

These days a lot of saints have become familiar with God, not intimate. Familiarity has replaced pursuit. Intimacy does not happen by accident just because you live in the same house. Familiarity is not Intimacy. Just like the old couple, we can sit in the "house" of God for years. We learn the service times, the worship songs, and the right Christian vocabulary. We mistake religious familiarity for a close relationship. Without intentional pursuit, our spiritual hearts grow distant. We stop sharing our raw, honest thoughts with God and settle for a comfortable, distant routine. God does not just want us in His house; He wants our hearts. True intimacy means stepping past the routine, quieting the noise of daily distractions, and choosing to meet Him freshly every single day.

God desires intimacy with the saints because love, by its very nature, seeks close relationship rather than distant duty. Intimacy is the essential foundation through which God transforms and empowers His believers. True spiritual growth, holiness, and the fruit of the Spirit do not come from rigid rule-following, but from a life closely intertwined with the divine. By drawing the saints into near fellowship, God creates a sacred space where He can bring healing to your soul, reveal His ultimate purposes, and equip you to reflect His love and light to the rest of the world.
