Rooted In The Word.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Prov. 3:5-6.

You may have heard of the animal known as The African Impala. They are amazing and incredible jumpers, they have the amazing ability of being able to leap 10 feet in the air and cover a distance of 10 yards in one jump. Imagine such a great feat. The challenge however is despite this amazing ability, the African Impala animal can be contained in a compound with walls only 3 or 4 feet high! Why? – Because the impala won’t jump unless it can see where it’s going to land. As a result impalas can be captured and imprisoned using their own self-imposed limitations. Many people act the same way: They are captured and imprisoned by their own self-imposed limitations, i.e. their fear, the inability to take risk and their being too shallow minded. The only way to escape the ‘impala syndrome’ is to take a risk and jump. You may not be able to see what’s on the other side of the wall, but if you don’t jump you’ll die wondering.

It behooves you to overcome what I call the impala syndrome. It describes a life lived by sight rather than faith. Living by sight—relying solely on physical senses, logic, and immediate, visible circumstances—is considered a significant limitation in spiritual and personal development because it is vulnerable to deception, fear, and temporary, fleeting realities. In contrast to "walking by faith," which trusts in unseen, eternal promises, living by sight often leads to anxiety and poor decision-making. What we see is not always the truth; it can confuse us and lead us to make wrong or foolish decisions. Sight often deceives us, causing us to judge situations, people, or opportunities based on superficial, temporary factors like wealth, appearance, or social status. Sight acts as an illusion that can steer individuals off the path of truth, making In pit a "dangerous" way to navigate life. May God grant you a better understanding of this reality. 

The truth is, it takes learning to walk by faith. You must practically cultivate the attitude of walking by faith. living by conviction in God's promises rather than relying on visible circumstances, feelings, or human understanding. It is a daily, intentional, and often challenging journey of trusting God for the next step, obeying His Word, and finding peace in the unknown. This means disregarding discouraging, temporary circumstances and focusing instead on God's eternal, unchanging character. Walking by faith does not require knowing the whole path, only taking the next step in obedience while relying on God's guidance. It is a lifestyle, not a one-time event, involving constant dependence on God rather than self-effort. Faith involves obeying the Bible even when it conflicts with personal understanding or popular opinion. It means waiting on God's timing and, as shown by Abraham, not giving in to despair when answers are delayed.

Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Father, I surrender my need to control and choose to rely on Your guidance. Please open my eyes to any hidden areas of fear, and replace them with Your peace. I will not lean on my own understanding, but in all my ways, I acknowledge You. Thank You for the measure of faith You have given me. I ask for the grace to walk in obedience, keeping in step with the Spirit. When the path is unclear, I will trust in Your promise that You are my strength and my refuge in all things in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
