Safe Underneath His Wings

“He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” Psa. 91:4 NLT.

There was an article in National Geographic several years ago that provided a penetrating picture of God's wings as stated in the scriptures.  There has apparently been a wild fire in the forest of a national park. The forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the damage created by the fire. One ranger found a bird literally covered in ashes, on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety, but had refused to abandon her babies. When the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die so that the chicks under the cover of her wings would live.

No doubt the Bible uses the metaphor of God’s wings to illustrate absolute divine protection, comfort, and security. It clearly shows how protected you are under the Lord’s wings as His saint. God's wings provide a safe haven when severe crises or destruction strike. You can run to Him for shelter until the danger completely passes. Dwelling under His wings removes all paralyzing fear of sudden terror, disease, or hidden dangers. His faithfulness acts as an impenetrable shield around you. Protection under His wings is not a somber hiding place, but a source of deep joy. Knowing He is your helper allows you to sing with gladness even during trials. 

God hides His saints under His wings to keep them completely out of reach from deadly enemies. The wicked cannot destroy you because God isolates you from their grasp. His wings offer a permanent shelter where your soul finds ultimate safety. This protection covers your spiritual life, physical life and emotional wellbeing, ensuring your security is guaranteed in Him. Under His wings, protection includes experiencing the fullness of God's love and provision. You are satisfied by His goodness while remaining completely secure. God protects you the way an eagle fiercely guards and carries its young. His wings represent a powerful yet tender care that lifts you up and carries you through difficult terrain. You can be rest assured that underneath the Lord's wings you are safe and secured. Being loved this much should make a difference in your life.
