“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Cor. 10:5. NIV.

We as believers must realise that we live in a volatile world. It’s so easy to fall prey to errors. Your thoughts are products of your focus. What you see and relate with informs your thoughts. Remember those scary movie, you watched as a kid, then had nightmares? It didn’t take long to realise that the best way to avoid the nightmares was to stop watching that kind of movie. God has provided a way to overcome unhealthy thoughts and behaviours, and gain the self-control you seek, if you will be sincere enough to act right and act now.

It’s a matter of taking charge of your life through taking your thoughts captive. How then do you take the thought you can’t see captive. There is a desperate need for practical applications of God’s word to your minds daily. To attain this feat, you must challenge your thoughts daily. Have you ever slowed down to pay attention to what is going on in your mind? To take something captive is to take control of it and put it in a controlled environment like putting a ferocious animal in a cage.

Then, you need to take a close look at your thoughts and consider what you are thinking or believing and why. As you do this, you need to consider if your thoughts line up with what is true of Jesus and the new life you profess in Christ Jesus. Do your thoughts conform to the truths of the gospel? From henceforth, choose the things you focus on, choose the things you allow to linger in your mind and your life. Choose your source of joy and peace. Above all choose the word of God and feed on it daily and let it be your greatest influence and motivation for all you do. You will end up with a refined mind, great thought life and a progressive attitude to living. You sure deserve to start from now. God bless you.
