The Danger Of Rebellion.

"Woe to the rebellious children, says the Lord, who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, in order to add sin to sin."  Isaiah 30:1

An astronaut is a professional space traveler or anyone trained and launched by a human spaceflight program to command or serve as a crew member aboard a spacecraft. Astronauts and space-program engineers emphasize that there is no room for rebellion when your life depends entirely on following exact, split-second instructions. During  moon missions, precision is vital. When an astronaut once asked if they could deviate from the strict flight plan, the engineer replied: "Sure, if we didn't want to return to earth!" Rebellion against God’s Word often masquerades as a desire for freedom, but it actually severs us from the very guidelines designed to keep us safe and bring us safely home.

Rebellion often begins as a subtle hardening of the heart against God's instruction. When we become stubborn, we elevate our own desires above God’s clear directives. A proud heart refuses to yield, whereas a surrendered heart willingly listens and submits. Scripture warns that this stubbornness separates us from divine peace. To avoid this, believers must intentionally practice daily surrender and invite God to soften their hearts. Rebellion in certain ways veils itself as self reliance. When we lean solely on our own understanding rather than seeking God's will. When we stop taking counsel from the Spirit and begin devising plans based purely on our own agendas, we walk contrary to God's purposes. To combat rebellion we must continually invite God into our decision-making processes. Total surrender means trusting His timing rather than rushing into choices out of anxiety or impatience.

Selective obedience is simply disobedience, it's a disguised form of rebellion. Picking and choosing which commands to follow based on personal convenience weakens our spiritual character and leaves us outside of God’s complete covering. True obedience is wholehearted and prompt. When we obey God in all things, we demonstrate our love for Him and mature in our faith disciplines. Unforgiveness and bitterness act as gateways to rebellion. When we harbour anger, we begin to justify sinful attitudes, which can eventually lead to turning our backs on God's ways and His body of believers. To keep bitterness from taking root, we must constantly practice grace and forgiveness. We should rely on the Holy Spirit to heal our emotional wounds so they do not cloud our faith. Selah!
