“Therefore my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge; their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.” (Isaiah 5:13)
Charles Steinmetz retired from General Electric after a lifelong career. Later, a system breakdown had GE engineers stumped, so they called on Steinmetz as a consultant. He famously went to a Ford plant to solve a generator breakdown and billed them heavily for his unparalleled expertise. A massive generator at Henry Ford's River Rouge plant broke down, stalling production and stumping the plant's own engineers. Steinmetz spent two days and nights simply listening to it and making calculations. He climbed a ladder, drew a single chalk mark on the generator, and instructed the engineers to remove exactly 16 turns of wire from the field coil. The machine immediately roared back to life. He sent an invoice of $10,000.
Ford was initially shocked by the price and asked for an itemized bill. Steinmetz returned the bill with the following famous breakdown: Making a chalk mark on the generator: $1. Knowing exactly where to make the mark: $9,999. Total due: $10,000. Ford reportedly paid the bill without hesitation. Ignorance is exceptionally expensive because it prevents you from utilizing what is already yours, blinds you to looming dangers, and often leads to irreversible loss. The scriptures outline how lacking knowledge costs not just materially, but spiritually and relationally. A lack of knowledge removes the know-how from your life, leading to poor choices that ultimately result in physical, emotional, or spiritual ruin. Not knowing what God or life has made available to you causes you to live in unnecessary lack, even when your provision is already secured. There is no other solution to the ignorance problem outside of getting knowledge.
Enthusiasm without proper understanding is dangerous, just like zeal without corresponding knowledge. Ignorance causes people to rush into situations, only to make costly missteps and miss their way. Ignorance creates a blind spot that deceptive forces and circumstances can easily exploit. Ignorance acts as a silent barrier to progress. It creates hidden traps that distort decision-making and cause us to miss vital information—often without us even realizing it. The most dangerous part of this cycle is that the less we know, the more confident we often feel about our faulty internal maps. When you are uninformed, you are easily tossed about and taken advantage of. Ignorance robs you of the honour, respect, and influence that wisdom brings. It keeps you existing far below the standard of life and potential that God has ordained for you.

DECLARATION:
Dear Abba Father, I thank You for the gift of life and the privilege of salvation. Lord, I ask that You forgive me for the times I have leaned on my own limited understanding. I pray that You will break the bondage of ignorance over my mind, my spirit, and my life. Lord, I subdue every spirit of error, deception, and confusion. Where I do not know, teach me. Where I lack understanding, grant me insight. Grant me spiritual guidance into all truth. Enlighten the eyes of my heart so that I can see the reality of Your wisdom and perceive things from Your divine perspective in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
