The Mystery Of Waiting On The Lord.

“How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?” Psalm 13:1-2.

Years back, when my children were much younger, each time we were making a road trip to Akure to go see their grandma, they always looked up to it with so much anticipation and excitement. The amazing thing however is, after driving for like an hour, the next thing from my youngest son is are we not there? “How long is the trip?” Hardly ten minutes would pass by, and then again, he would ask, “When are we reaching? Why is it taking so long?” I must confess, at this point this whole trip becomes tiring for them. He loves to see his grandma and her goats, that run around Grandma's compound but he hates the tiring journey, the delay, the potholes riddled roads. 

Waiting can sometimes seem like God has forgotten us. Waiting can sometimes seem like He no longer cares and has hidden His face from us.

Waiting can be frustrating. David went through this waiting process and eventually cried out, ‘How long’? You, too, must be crying out in this manner, “How long, Lord?” As frustrating as waiting can be, I'm encouraged by Isa. 64:4. I trust this scripture to bless you too. “Since ancient times no one has heard or perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who intervenes for those who wait for him.” hallelujah! He intervenes on your matter when it matters the most, hold on. God will surely intervene to your favour, if you perfect the mystery of waiting till the end. 

The Bible often counsels us to adopt a “wait and see” attitude with respect to God. “Wait for the Lord,” the psalmist urges, “be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” Psa. 27:14. Indeed, waiting could almost be a synonym for faith. A good part of what it means to be a believer is to hold on to the conviction that a loving God is in control of our lives even when it seems like he’s absent, or maybe isn’t even real. We cry out to God to fix our problems, to rescue us from the mess we’re in, to deliver us from pain, and then we wait for him to respond, and hope that he does. I can however assure you, don't quite keep waiting, He will not fail you.
